Brad Hopek, 3L
Co-Captain 

 
Brad Hopek is a returning member and co-captain of the CUA Law Vis Team, and a member of the Comparative and International Law Institute.  Mr. Hopek is the team expert on substantive international sales law and contractual disputes in international arbitration. He most recently interned with the trade associate, The Corporate Council on Africa, and would like to pursue a career in international law. He graduated from Lafayette College in 2013 with a double major in Government & Law and African Studies while playing Division I baseball. When he’s not at the gym or library, Brad enjoys being a foodie in the District.
 

Zach Figueroa, 3L

 Zach Figueroa is a new member of the CUA Law Vis Team. Mr. Figueroa graduated in 2012 with a double degree in Business Administration and Political Science. Originally from Los Angeles, California, Zachary began his legal studies at the Columbus School of Law in 2013. As a member of the Comparative and International Law Institute at CUA, he attended the International Business and Trade Summer Law Program in Krakow, Poland in 2014. Most recently, Zachary held a legal intern position with Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., a leading international trade and customs law firm in Washington, D.C. While at CUA, Zachary has also completed the requirements to earn a joint-degree Masters of Science in Business Analytics.

 

Barrett Bles, 3L
Co-Captain

Barrett Bles is a returning member and co-captain of the CUA Law Vis Team.  Ms. Bles is a member of the Comparative and International Law Institute at CUA and participated in the 2014 International Business and Trade Summer Law Program in Krakow, Poland.  She is the team expert on procedural law and jurisdictional disputes in international arbitration.  Ms. Bles also has a demonstrated interest in criminal and international law and a passion for providing equal access to legal representation. She graduated from the University of Virginia in 2012 with a B.A. in Sociology and Studio Art and loves dogs.

 

 

 

Rachel Hesling, 3L

Rachel Hesling is a new member of the CUA Law Vis Team. Ms. Hesling is a third year student from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. She holds a B.A. from Vanderbilt University, where she double majored in political science and human organizational development. She has studied comparative law in Beijing, China at Renmin University Law School and at Jagellonian University in Kraków, Poland. Rachael will subsequently finish her masters degree in International affairs at Georgetown University in the summer of 2016. When she's not studying, you can find her at yoga, playing tennis or hanging with her cockeranian, Henry.

Tina Nafisi, 2L

Tina Nafisi is a new member of the CUA Law Vis Team. She is a second-year student and is in the Law and Public Policy Institute. Ms. Nafisi’s international background has influenced her passion in law school and growing interest in international trade and relations. She was born in Amman, Jordan and is a Palestinian American fluent in Arabic. She graduated from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in international public relations and a minor in political science. She is interested in politics, civil rights, education and giving back through community outreach and eventually through her degree in law. 

 

 

 Alex Hastie, 2L                                                                                        

Alex Hastie is a new member of the CUA Law Vis Team. He graduated from American University in 2008 with a B.A. in international relations and a concentration in foreign policy and African studies. Before coming to CUA, he worked as a radio news reporter and spent 5 years as an antique dealer and appraiser in the DC area. Mr. Hastie is the president of the CUA chapter of the International Law Students Association and is a member of the Comparative & International Law Institute. He participated in the 2015 International Business and Trade Summer Law program in Krakow, Poland and worked in the mergers and acquisitions department of a major firm in Warsaw. Alexander's interests include playing bass guitar, collecting artwork, cooking, and coaching his bocce ball team to more championships.
